Certainly diet and lifestyle are a factor in whether those genes get the better of you- they are not a guarantee but it would be naive to dismiss them. Read "The China Study" before you judge Marilyn's post, it is an important contribution to the literature of cancer prevention as is "Anticancer."

Always start with extensive conservative care first! Chiropractic has been shown to be just as (if not more) effective than surgery. Studies demonstrating the overuse and ineffectiveness of back surgery are becoming more and more common. You can't "take back" a surgery.

The more natural the birth the more beneficial for mother and baby - if, of course, there is no legitimate health consideration for the intervention - that is why the WHO recommends natural childbirth, and sets guidelines, as stated in the article.

Look at the studies and scientific evidence: home birth is just as safe as hospital birth for low risk women who have had proper prenatal care, there is a very strict criteria for who is an eligible candidate for homebirths and there are highly qualified birth attendants available for these women.

I think a lot of the questions stem from the fact that women in this country are unfamiliar with breastfeeding. As a country we are culturally unfamiliar with this basic biological function. Our mothers, sisters, and friends never breastfed therefore it is a mystery.
